The Kuki Village Volunteers of the Eastern Zone have expressed strong disappointment regarding reports about the proposed visit of the Manipur Chief Minister Y. Khemchand Singh to Tengnoupal district.
The volunteers reiterate a firm and unwavering position that no Meitei individual will be permitted to cross the buffer zone between Kangpokpi (Meitei Land) and Tengnoupal district (Kukiland). This restriction will remain in effect until the Government of India officially acknowledges the separation between Kuki land and Meitei land.
The volunteers demand that the Government of India fulfil their call for Separate Administration in the form of a Union Territory with a legislature for the Kuki people.
The Village Volunteers deliver a stern and uncompromising warning to Mr. Khemchand and his associates, emphasizing that Tengnoupal is not Kangpokpi. They assert that the Kuki people stand united in their resolve.
Any attempt at intimidation or coercion in the region will be met with resolute resistance, and the pressure tactics used in Kangpokpi will not prevail in Tengnoupal, the volunteers warn.
Given the prevailing ground realities and the sentiments of the people, any insistence on proceeding with the proposed visit despite these warnings may lead to serious and unavoidable consequences. The responsibility for any such outcome will rest entirely with those who choose to ignore the concerns and position of the people.
