The Eastern Kuki Chiefs’ Association (EKCA) has dismissed claims by certain Tangkhul CSOs that the Assam Rifles planned to transport food and essentials to Kuki areas. In its April 27 press release, EKCA called the allegations false and confirmed no such supply arrangements exist.
EKCA acknowledged that Kuki residents received food and shelter at an Assam Rifles camp, but said this was only after they sought refuge during law and order disturbances in Chassad, Kamjong District. The group said the humanitarian aid had no link to the alleged supply transports.
The association stated that Kukis in Chassad are unaware of any plan to move supplies to Kuki regions. It accused the CSOs of pushing a “negative narrative” designed to damage the reputation of both the Assam Rifles and the Kuki community amid ongoing tensions.
Issued under Ref. No. 03/2026/EKCA/PR-02 from its Chassad head office, the EKCA statement urged an end to misinformation. Reaffirming its motto “Peace and Prosperity,” it said false claims only deepen distrust and harm efforts to restore calm in conflict-hit Manipur.
