Saikul, May 2, 2026 : Saikul Assembly Constituency MLA Pi Kimneo Haokip Hangshing formally inaugurated the Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission for Lhungtin Block at the SDO Office in Lhungtin on Friday. The launch marks a major push for grassroots economic development in Saikul constituency, Kangpokpi District, with the programme designed to mobilize rural poor households into Self-Help Groups and their federations. Officials said the initiative will expand financial inclusion and strengthen collective economic participation among communities in the block.

The ceremony brought together senior administrators and community representatives. Present were SDO Lhungtin Pu Samuel Misao, Director of InSIDE NorthEast Pu Hejang Misao, and District Incharge Pu Letgin Doungel. Village chiefs and church leaders also attended, including Pr. Kammang Hangshing of Lhungtin Christian Church and Pu Jamgin Khongsai, Head Deacon of Gampum Baptist Church. Their participation underscored the broad local support for the mission’s objectives.
MSRLM will focus on sustainable livelihood creation through skill development, entrepreneurship support for rural youth, and improved access to markets. The mission also seeks to enhance rural infrastructure and build institutional capacity at the village level. By encouraging self-reliance and community-based organizations, officials expect the programme to generate long-term socio-economic benefits across Lhungtin Block.

The launch is being viewed as a milestone for inclusive growth in Saikul constituency, Kangpokpi District. Local leaders said the effort aligns with the broader vision of building a resilient and self-sustaining rural economy in Manipur. With SHGs expected to serve as the backbone of implementation, the mission aims to empower households to participate more actively in the state’s economic life.
