The Nagaland Zeliang People Organization, Zeliangrong Baudi, and Kuki Inpi Nagaland issued a joint press release on May 15, 2026, condemning recent violence in Manipur and calling for the immediate release of all hostages. The three Peren-based civil society organisations described the incidents as “ugly and barbaric” and said such acts should not take place between tribal Christian communities.

The statement specifically condemned the killing of a church leader and the subsequent taking of innocent civilians hostage from both communities. The CSOs said these actions are “highly condemnable and reprehensible” and go “beyond all human sensibilities.”
In their appeal to the public of Peren district and Nagaland, the groups urged Zeliangrong and Kuki citizens to protect peaceful coexistence. They said no individual or organisation should take the law into their own hands or act on emotional outbursts, warning that such incidents must not be allowed to damage inter-tribal harmony.
The CSOs asked all residents of Peren district to maintain peace by all means and report any incident to community leaders immediately to prevent further escalation. They stressed that disputes should be contained locally through proper channels.
The press release concluded with a strong appeal for the safe release of all innocent individuals taken hostage, stating they should be returned “without any harms, safe and sound.” It was signed by Zandi Domta, President NZPO; L. Singsit, President Kuki Inpi Nagaland; and K. Francis Zeliang, President Zeliangrong Baudi (N), all dated May 15, 2026.
