The Kuki Students’ Organisation Nagaland (KSO-Nagaland) on Thursday issued a press statement rejecting claims that Tony Singsit, son of Shri L. Singsit, IPS (Retd.), is its president. The clarification came in response to a statement released in the name of the Zeliangrong Baudi (N) that identified Singsit as heading the Nagaland-based student body.

KSO-Nagaland said Singsit has never been associated with the organisation as an office bearer. While he may be regarded as a member by virtue of hailing from Saijang Village in Peren District, the group stated that portraying him as president is “entirely incorrect and misleading.” It urged all concerned to verify facts before issuing public statements to avoid creating misunderstandings.

The student body further issued a warning to Kuki individuals from Nagaland against commenting on issues concerning Manipur.Tc KSO-Nagaland noted that Kukis of Nagaland have historically been part of the Naga movement, and conflicts between communities in Manipur should be left to the people of Manipur to resolve.

The directive extends to Kuki students, the public, and media personnel from Nagaland. KSO-Nagaland said it “sternly warned” them to desist from any comment, debate, or publication on the Manipur issue. The organisation added it would not be responsible for problems arising if community members defy the directive.

KSO-Nagaland said the statement was issued in the interest of public peace, harmony, and communal understanding. The release, dated May 22, was signed by President Thangkhanmang and General Secretary Paojamang, with headquarters in Ahthibung Town, Peren District.
