Moreh, Aug 6, 2026: In a strong public interest move, the Civil Society Organisations of Tengnoupal District have issued a press statement expressing serious concern over the non-joining of doctors posted to medical institutions in the district despite a Government transfer order.
According to the statement, the Government of Manipur through His Excellency the Governor, issued a transfer order on 22nd July, 2026 for functioning of all medical institutions of Tengnoupal District including PHC Tengnoupal, PHC Moreh and Sub-Divisional Hospital SDH Moreh.
The CSOs stated that though 14 days have passed since the order was issued, only one doctor, Dr. Tongjakai Haokip, has complied and joined his place of posting. The remaining 5 doctors are yet to join and discharge their duties as assigned by the government.
The press statement has named the 5 doctors as:
1. Dr. Naulak Nengliankim,
2. Dr. Jamkhopum Baite,
3. Dr. Kamalmaun Singson,
4. Dr. Farooque Shaikh and
5. Dr. Md. Shaikh Yousuf Ali
Therefore, the CSOs have issued a one-week ultimatum. If the said doctors fail to join their respective places of posting within a week, effective from 6th August, 2026, the Civil Society Organisation of Tengnoupal District shall enforce different forms of democratic agitation against the government and those concerned doctors.
The CSOs further warned that the government shall be solely held accountable for any untoward incidents that may arise out of the agitation.
The statement also highlighted the grave health crisis in the border town. It mentioned that the present epidemics of Dengue, Typhoid and Malaria engulfing Moreh Town has not declined so far. As such, the general public is in urgent need of sufficient doctors and nurses to fight and battle this epidemic.

The CSOs have appealed to the government to ensure immediate compliance of its own order in the interest of public health in the remote border district.
