KNO Clarifies Pu P.S. Haokip Remains President of Kuki National Organisation; Statement Only Pertains to KNA Post

Songpi, Aug 6, 2026: The Office of the Kuki National Organisation (KNO), Government of Zalengam has today issued an important clarification regarding the status of its President Pu. P. S. Haokip to prevent confusion and misinformation among the public.

In an official Press Release dated 6th August 2026 and issued by the Department of Information and Public Relations, KNO stated that the recent developments pertain solely to Pu. P. S. Haokip’s position as President of the Kuki National Army (KNA), as officially acknowledged through the Cabinet (KNO).

The organisation has clearly stated that this development does not affect his office as President of the Kuki National Organisation (KNO).

“The office of the President of the KNO is governed exclusively by the Constitution, rules, and established procedures of the Organisation,” the press release reads.

The KNO has therefore called upon all its constituent groups, well-wishers, members of the media, and the general public to refrain from being influenced by speculation, rumours, or misinformation concerning this matter.

The public has been further advised to rely solely on official statements and communications issued by the Kuki National Organisation.

The clarification comes amid widespread rumours and speculations circulating on social media regarding the leadership of the KNO/KNA, one of the two major umbrella organisations of the Kuki armed groups under Suspension of Operation (SoO).

The KNO has reaffirmed that any change in the highest office of the organisation can only be done through constitutional provisions.
