Songpi/Aizawl: Mizoram has marked a proud moment on the national stage as Lalrinchhani, Miss Universe Mizoram 2026, secured a place in the Top 22 at the Miss Universe India 2026 Grand Finale held on August 23, 2026 at Zee Studios in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
The grand finale saw 52 contestants from 31 states and union territories, 20 wildcards and 1 NRI contestant. Manipur’s Kaziah Liz Mejo was crowned Miss Universe India 2026 and will represent India at Miss Universe 2026 in Puerto Rico in November. Vaishnavi Ganesh was crowned 1st Runner-up.
Lalrinchhani, who was crowned Miss Universe Mizoram 2026 in Lunglei in May 2026 by her predecessor Evelyn Zachhingpuii, made it to the Top 22. As per the official placements, she was voted into the Top 20 after winning the Miss Popular Award.
Mizoram wins Miss Popular award
In a massive public voting battle, Lalrinchhani won the Miss Popular Vote award with 465 million shares, defeating Manipur’s Thadoi Yumnam who finished second with 442 million shares – a margin of 23 million shares. The award gave her a direct entry into the Top 22.
She also won the Ms. Wonderla subtitle during the pageant, showcasing her charm and popularity.

The achievement has drawn widespread celebration from across the Northeast. The Kuki Students Organisation, Bangalore (KSOB) extended heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Lalrinchhani on winning the titles Ms. Popular and Ms. Wonderla at Miss Universe India 2026, calling it a proud moment for the Zohnathlak community.
Her journey from Lunglei to Jaipur has been celebrated for her confidence, grace and strong winning answer that reflected intelligence and purpose. The Northeast is cheering for Lalrinchhani as she makes Mizoram shine on the national stage.
