Moreh; The longstanding demand for satisfactory functioning of Medical Institutions in Tengnoupal District remains unfulfilled till date despite repeated appeals by all Kuki CSOs of Tengnoupal District and various community leaders of Moreh, a Joint Press Release issued today said.
In the joint press release dated 2nd September, 2026, the organisations said they are once again demanding the posting of those doctors shortlisted for Moreh who have refused to join their place of posting even after more than a month.
The release stated that having faith in the Medical Department in particular and the government in general, the proposed bandh and agitation had been called off earlier in the hope that the government would address the demand in public interest.
The CSOs demanded that if the concerned doctors fail to join their place of posting, they should be booked under the Civil Service Liability Act as per rules and alternative arrangement be made to replace them to meet the demand of the district.
It is also demanded that tribal doctors posted at SDH, Moreh and enjoying their monthly salary without discharging their duty be made to discharge their duties at the earliest failing which stringent action may be taken against them by the government.
Moreover, the release reminded that a new DDO at SDH, Moreh be arranged in place of the present DDO Dr. Cecil Ahongsangbam as was demanded in the previous press release issued.
The CSOs of Tengnoupal District and the community leaders of Moreh said they remain steadfast in their humanitarian demand and shall execute different forms of democratic agitations if the government fails to address the issue within ten days from the date of the joint press release.
It may be recalled that the same CSOs had earlier announced a 48-hour total bandh on the Imphal-Moreh National Highway from August 24, 2026, demanding implementation of Governor order dated July 22, 2026 for posting of doctors at PHC Tengnoupal, PHC Moreh and SDH Moreh. The bandh was later relaxed for one week from August 26 after assurance that the government was taking steps, but with a warning of fresh agitation if demands were not met.
