Songpi: The United Kuki National Army (UKNA), Government of Kuki-Gam, has announced a total boycott against Henglep MLA Letjamang Haokip.
In a statement issued today, 9th August 2026, by its Department of Information, the organisation said the action was taken because the MLA, despite being elected on the pledge for Separate Administration, has betrayed the people.
The statement alleged that Henglep MLA Letjamang Haokip, along with Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen, invited Chief Minister Y. Khemchand Singh to Lamka yesterday. For this act, the organisation has declared him a betrayer of the Kuki people.
From today onwards, no individual, village chief, or civil society organisation should invite, welcome, or have any dealings with the Henglep MLA, the order said, adding that a complete boycott will be enforced across all Kuki areas.
The UKNA further warned that anyone found violating this order will face strict punishment and action by its armed wing.
The organisation also stated that press conferences held by Non-Suspension of Operations groups without public information are misleading, and this order is being issued at the national level to inform the general public.
This comes amid growing public anger in Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, Chandel and Pherzawl districts against leaders who joined the new NDA government, which Kuki bodies say violates the Lungthu resolution of 13th January where all Kuki MLAs had resolved not to join any government without a written guarantee on Separate Administration.
