Kanggui, June 13, 2026: The Kuki Civic Action Committee (KCAC) on Friday condemned what it called “continuing aggressions” against Kuki villages and ancestral lands, alleging attacks by NSCN-IM and the Kamson group in the Twilang area along the Imphal-Tamenglong Road.

In a press release issued from its head office in Phaijang, Lamka, and signed by Chief Coordinator Jacob Lenminthang Thadou, the Committee said the latest attacks on fringe Kuki villages were not isolated incidents but part of a “disturbing trend” threatening the peace, security, and existence of Kuki settlements in the region.

“For years, KCAC has closely observed what appears to be a calculated attempt by certain Naga groups to exert pressure upon Kuki-inhabited areas through coercion, intimidation, and repeated provocations,” the statement read.

Sheer audacity

The Committee expressed outrage at the “sheer audacity and insensitivity” of those targeting innocent civilians, citing the destruction of livelihoods and encroachment upon Kuki lands. “These acts cannot be justified under any circumstance,” it said.

KCAC demanded an immediate cessation of all forms of aggression, intimidation, and violence against Kuki villages, stating that “ruthless killings, attacks on civilians, and attempts to terrorize Kuki communities must stop forthwith.”

Warning of resistance

Issuing a sharp warning, the Committee said the patience shown by the Kuki people over the years should not be mistaken for weakness.

“Every attack on a Kuki village, every act of intimidation, and every attempt to dispossess our people of their ancestral lands will be met with united democratic resistance and unwavering opposition,” the release stated.

Call for government intervention

KCAC urged the Government of Manipur and the Government of India to intervene immediately to protect vulnerable Kuki villages and uphold the rule of law.

“Failure to act decisively will only embolden those who seek to destabilize the region and undermine peaceful coexistence,” it added, reaffirming its commitment to defend the rights, dignity, security, and ancestral lands of the Kuki people.

The Committee said it stands firmly with the people of Twilang and all affected Kuki villages, and called upon “all democratic forces to condemn these continued acts of aggression in the strongest possible terms.”
