The Kuki National Army, Burma (KNA-B) has issued a clarification dismissing a viral video that allegedly shows blindfolded KNA-B members involved in an attack on civilians. In a statement released Friday from its General Headquarters, KNA-B said the claims made by “certain Tangkhul miscreants in India” are baseless and false. The outfit also rejected footage in the video purporting to show KNA-B soldiers being killed, calling it fake.
KNA-B asserted it has no presence inside India and remains focused on larger objectives in Burma. The group criticised Tangkhul leaders of Naga revolutionary groups for resorting to misinformation to “drum up support against the Kukis” and distract from internecine conflicts within the Tangkhul community. The statement termed such propaganda a “cheap practice” that undermines trust between communities.
To disprove the video’s claims, KNA-B cited uniform discrepancies and language evidence. The outfit said its cadres wear insignias on both shoulders, unlike the single-side insignia seen in the footage. It added that the Burmese language heard in the video indicates those involved are not KNA-B, as the group does not have Si-Aso members within its ranks.
The statement further noted that KNA-B had previously urged Tangkhuls in Manipur to maintain restraint between Christian Kuki and Tangkhul communities, as it has done with Tangkhul groups in the Burma region. KNA-B warned that if the trend of misinformation continues, it “will not remain a mere spectator.”
The clarification was issued by the Ministry of Information and Publicity, Kuki National Organisation, Government of Kuki State. KNA-B’s denial comes amid heightened tensions in Manipur following recent attacks on Kuki villages and ongoing disputes over ceasefire violations by Naga groups operating in the region.
