KNA-B Denies India Operations, Says Focus is on Myanmar Democracy Fight; Calls Kamjong Killing Report False

Auto Draft

Myanmar: The Kuki National Organisation / Government of Kuki State, General Headquarters, has issued a clarification stating that the Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B) has no involvement in any activity within the territory of India. The statement was issued by the Ministry of Information and Publicity on October 12, 2026.

In the clarification, the KNA-B said it has been compelled to issue the statement to inform the people of India and specifically the government of Manipur that all its strength and efforts are directed towards fighting for the restoration of democracy in Myanmar along with the protection of its people and land in Myanmar. It stated that it never had, nor will have, any involvement in any activity within India.

The organisation termed as false a recent report claiming that two of its members were killed in Kamjong district in Manipur. It said there is nothing more to the report and that repeated pointing of fingers towards KNA-B for the shortcomings of the government of Manipur and India at large to maintain peace in Manipur does not and will never bring a solution to what is happening there.

The KNA-B also said that just because the Kuki people are living on both sides of the border does not mean they are in conflict with themselves, as was seen between the NSCN-IM and Eastern Flank. It clarified that this does not mean it has cross-border mingling with other armed Kuki groups within India.

The statement further said that Kuki people in India have all the necessary means available to approach their government against injustice committed against them and are in the process of settling for a solution to long-lasting peace in the ethnic conflict that has enveloped Manipur.

Therefore, the KNA-B issued a public directive stating that it does not have any operational presence within the territory of India and any such claim that is opposite to this is only an attempt to hide the incompetence of the government who failed to do their duty of maintaining law and order for their citizens.

The clarification has been issued at a time when reports of cross-border movement of armed groups have been circulating in Manipur, particularly in border districts like Kamjong, and security agencies have been monitoring developments along the Indo-Myanmar border.
