Leimakhong, July 5 2026: A large number of Kuki community members took part in a peaceful protest rally in Kangpokpi district on Saturday. The demonstration was organised by the Leimakhong Area Protection Committee to raise concerns over prolonged blockades affecting the region.

The protesters marched through key areas of the district carrying placards and raising slogans. Their primary grievance was the disruption to the movement of essential commodities due to the ongoing blockades in and around Leimakhong and adjoining areas.

During the rally, participants directly questioned the role of the district administration. Placards targeted the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police with messages such as “Who are the Yes Men of Kangpokpi District? – DC & SP” and “Why Are DC & SP Silent on the Blockades?” Another placard read “Yes-Men Are Heartless.”

Speakers at the protest urged the administration to break its silence and take immediate steps. They said the blockades have caused hardship to residents by affecting the supply of food, medicine and other daily necessities. The committee called for urgent intervention to ensure free movement along the affected routes.

The demonstrators appealed to both the DC and SP to visit the affected areas, assess the ground situation, and coordinate with relevant agencies to restore normalcy. They stressed that timely administrative action was needed to prevent the situation from worsening in the coming days.

The rally concluded peacefully with no reports of untoward incidents. Organisers said they would continue to monitor the situation and expect a prompt response from the district authorities to address the demands raised during the protest.
