Songpi, July 10, 2026: The Kuki Inpi Jiribam, Tamenglong & Noney Districts, Manipur – the apex body of Kuki Tribes in the three districts – has condemned in the strongest possible terms the burning of Nungthut Kuki Village and Khongmol Kuki Village in Noney District by the NSCN-IM and its allied groups.
In a condemnation statement issued on July 09, 2026, bearing Ref. No. 133/KITN/PR/2024-26, the organization said the incident reportedly took place on July 8, 2026, at around 5:30 PM.
“The deliberate burning of civilian homes is a grave violation of human dignity and the rule of law. Such inhumane acts have no place in a civilized society and only deepen fear, suffering, and mistrust among communities,” the statement said. “Targeting innocent villagers and destroying their homes is completely unacceptable under any circumstances.”
The Kuki Inpi JTN expressed its deepest sympathy and solidarity with the affected families who suffered immense loss in the unfortunate incident. It said it prays for their safety, strength, and early rehabilitation.
The apex body urged the Government of Manipur and the concerned security agencies to immediately conduct a fair, impartial, and time-bound investigation, identify those responsible, and bring them to justice in accordance with the law.
It also called upon the authorities to provide immediate humanitarian relief, adequate security, and necessary assistance to all affected families.
Reiterating its stand, the Kuki Inpi JTN said violence against innocent civilians can never be justified, and that lasting peace can only be achieved through justice, accountability, and respect for human rights.
