Songpi: The mortal remains of eight Kuki martyrs killed by NSCN-IM and ZUF-K in the ongoing Kuki-Naga conflict are still lying in the morgue of District Hospital, Churachandpur. The Kuki Inpi Manipur Secretariat took note of the situation on October 7, 2026.

The Secretariat, in an order signed by Secretary Janghaolun Haokip, imposed a total ban on all entertainment activities across Kuki areas. The ban includes sports tournaments, concerts and night programmes till the martyrs are buried with honour.

KIM warned that any violation of the order will be treated as disrespect to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the conflict. It said violators will face strong action from the public and Kuki leadership.

Responding to the order, the Kuki Inpi Churachandpur on October 8 said it holds the KIM directive in high respect but is deeply hurt and saddened. The statement was issued from its headquarters at Tuibong, signed by Lhangsam Jamkhokai Doungel.

The Kuki Inpi Churachandpur said it has requested KIM to allow ongoing sports tournaments and important programmes already underway to continue in an organised manner. It said the appeal was made keeping the future of the youth in mind, and KIM leadership has understood and agreed.

At the same time, KIC made it clear that no new entertainment programmes and no night concerts will be allowed till the burial. If any mourning programme or protest is organised for the martyrs, all Kuki people must participate and all sports must stop that day.
