Kanggui, July 7, 2026: The Kuki Women Union Sadar Hills (KWU-SH) has strongly condemned the alleged attack on Thingkhongjang Village in Kangpokpi District by NSCN-IM and ZUF Kamson militants on 5th July 2026, calling it a “barbaric and inhuman” act of terror against unarmed civilians.

In a press release issued on 6th July 2026, KWU-SH said the attack involved deliberate bombing and indiscriminate firing that left an innocent woman and a young child seriously injured. Several civilian homes were also reduced to ashes during the assault.

“The deliberate bombing and indiscriminate firing that left an innocent woman and a young child seriously injured, while also reducing civilian homes to ashes, constitute a grave violation of human rights and an unforgivable act of terror against unarmed civilians,” the union stated.

KWU-SH asserted that targeting women, children, and defenseless villagers “can never be justified under any circumstances” and that such heinous acts only deepen fear and instability among communities already facing immense hardship.

Demands for Action and Relief

The union demanded that the Government of India immediately identify and bring all those responsible to justice through the full force of the law.

KWU-SH also called upon authorities to strengthen security in vulnerable villages to ensure civilian safety, provide adequate medical care to the injured, and extend immediate relief and compensation to affected families.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured victims and all those who have lost their homes and livelihoods. We stand in unwavering solidarity with the people of Thingkhongjang Village and reaffirm that violence against innocent civilians must never be tolerated,” the release added.

The statement concluded: “Justice must prevail. Those responsible must be held fully accountable.”
