The Kuki Women Union General Headquarters has issued a public statement strongly denouncing the arrest of Viz Nemneilhing Haokip, also known as Neinu Haokip of Saikul Bazar, by Senapati Police at T Khullen in Kangpokpi district. In a press release dated May 9, 2026, bearing Ref. No. 003/KWU/GHQ/0526, the KWU clarified that the arrested individual has no connection with the organization and is not authorized to represent it in any capacity. The statement comes amid concerns that false associations could damage the Union’s reputation.

The KWU specifically rejected any claims made by Neinu Haokip identifying herself as General Secretary of the KWU or of any of its branches. The Union stated that it does not have a General Secretary by this name and urged the public to disregard such statements. The organization emphasized that all official communications and office-bearer appointments are made only through its General Headquarters at KIM Secretariat, Bijang, Lamka, and carry proper authorization.
In its release, the Department of Information & Publicity, KWU GHQ, demanded an immediate investigation into the circumstances surrounding the arrest. The Union requested that authorities verify the identity and affiliations of individuals before taking action, noting that misrepresentation harms both the organization and public trust. It added that necessary steps will be taken to protect the KWU’s reputation and interests from further misuse.
The KWU also appealed to the public to remain cautious of individuals misrepresenting themselves as office-bearers of the organization. It reaffirmed its commitment to working for the welfare of the Kuki community and sought cooperation from the public in reporting such cases. The Union stressed that its work continues across relief, advocacy, and community support, and unauthorized claims risk undermining those efforts.
