Saikul: The Distribution Programme of Schemes and Items for 46-Saikul Assembly Constituency, organised by the Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council (SHADC), was successfully conducted yesterday at Saikul with active participation of government departments, student bodies and civil society organisations.
As part of the programme, stationery items including notebooks, pens, pencils, chalks, dusters and other essential learning materials were distributed to government and aided schools under Saikul Block. The initiative aims to strengthen educational institutions at the grassroots and ensure that children, especially in rural and remote villages, have access to basic learning needs without disruption.
The initiative comes at a time when many schools in Saikul Sub-Division face shortage of teaching-learning materials due to limited resources. Teachers and School Management Committees welcomed the move, stating that timely support of stationery will help improve classroom activities and encourage regular attendance of students.
Along with educational support, dustbins and other materials for solid waste management were also distributed to villages, schools and public institutions. The distribution is part of the ongoing effort to promote cleanliness, sanitation and proper waste disposal in line with the Swachh Bharat Mission and the Council’s own sanitation drive across Sadar Hills.
Officials said that provision of dustbins will help instill habit of segregation of waste at source and maintain cleaner surroundings in schools, market areas and village community halls. The effort reflects a shared responsibility to build a healthier environment and to make Saikul a model for cleanliness in Kangpokpi district.
The programme witnessed presence of officials and staff of the Deputy Inspector of Schools, Saikul, Sub-Divisional Collector, Saikul, Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) Saikul Block, Kuki Inpi Saikul, village chiefs, church leaders, teachers and students.
Addressing the gathering, the organisers extended sincere appreciation to all stakeholders whose cooperation, dedication and active participation made the programme a grand success. They noted that when government institutions, community organisations and civil society work together with shared purpose, meaningful change can be achieved.
It was also emphasized that development is a collective responsibility and not the task of government alone. Sustainable development can only be achieved through active participation of the people, transparency in implementation of schemes and close coordination between ADC, district administration and community-based organisations.
The organisers further expressed commitment to continue such welfare-oriented programmes in the future, focusing on education, health, sanitation and livelihood to ensure inclusive growth in 46-Saikul Assembly Constituency.
The programme concluded with a call to the people of Saikul to continue working together with commitment and determination towards a cleaner, better-educated, healthier and more progressive 46-Saikul Assembly Constituency and to build a stronger future for the coming generation.
