Songpi: In a directive issued from its General Headquarters on 17th October 2026, the United Kuki National Army (UKNA) under the Government of Kukiland has announced a complete ban on sporting and entertainment activities across Kukiland areas. The order, titled ‘Thuphon’ and released by the Department of Information, UKNA GHQ, comes into force with immediate effect from 17/10/2026.

Citing the prolonged crisis since 3rd May, 2023, the orgn. stated that internal disunity has led to war and conflict that continues to afflict the Kuki people without resolution. It expressed deep concern that while many have lost their lives and unclaimed bodies still lie in morgues, sports competitions and various forms of entertainment and parties continue to be organised in different villages and towns, which it termed as unfortunate and insensitive to the prevailing situation.

As per the order, no individual, group or village authority will be permitted to organise Kichep Golseh (Sports) and Golnop (Entertainment) in any form. The orgn. stated that the decision has been taken in view of national mourning and the collective suffering of the community, and has appealed to the public not to defy the directive under any circumstances. It further informed that public programs and festivals that have already been planned should not be attended by anyone.

The orgn. warned that any person or group violating the order and facing consequences thereof will be solely responsible, and the orgn. cannot be held accountable. It emphasised that strict compliance will be expected from all.

In an emotional appeal to the people, the statement recalled the heavy losses suffered by the community, including loss of lives, burning and destruction of houses and properties, and the humiliation and torture of women by the enemy. It said that despite all hardships and sufferings, the people must continue to work with determination and steadfast resolve for the cause of the nation.

The directive concludes with the orgn.’s motto, “Kuki Nam jalenna din kapang jing uve” and “Kukiland adin kapang jing uve,” reaffirming its commitment to the Kukiland cause.
