The Chepu Yaolen Village Authority on Friday strongly refuted allegations made by the Working Committee of Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) over the alleged presence of Kuki armed groups in the village. The village body stated that Yaolen Chepu has no camps of SoO or non-SoO Kuki militants and remains an exclusively civilian settlement.
In its press note dated April 18, the authority pointed out that the site of the recent incident has been wrongly linked to Chepu Yaolen and TM Kasom. The location, it clarified, falls under Litan Sareikhang — an area inhabited solely by the Tangkhul Kacha-Naga population since violence broke out in May 2023. Such misidentification, it warned, fuels misinformation and puts innocent villages at risk.
The village authority said it does not oppose lawful security operations but insisted that they must be impartial and applied without selectivity. Combing and search operations, it argued, should cover all vulnerable areas equally to maintain fairness and public trust.
It further urged security forces to include Tangkhul Kacha-Naga villages from TM Kasom to Thoyee and Sinakeithel in any operations, citing concerns of militant presence in those areas. “Facts must prevail over speculation,” the statement read.
