Noney, July 23, 3026: The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has issued a strong warning to the NSCN-IM, accusing it of carrying out anti-people, divisive and exploitative activities in Zeliangrong-inhabited areas of Manipur.
In a press release issued by its Ministry of Information & Publicity on July 22, 2026, signed by Secretary Louis Gangmei, the ZUF expressed “outright resentment” over what it called the sinister design of the NSCN-IM to lure and recruit Zeliangrong youths as “volunteers” in the name of war with the Kukis.
The Front alleged that this is a deliberate game by the NSCN-IM to create confusion, fear and division in society in collusion with the Kamson group and some self-styled individuals and organizations. The ZUF stated that ill-motivated Zeliangrong youths are being manipulated to act against their own people, and that such acts have distorted Zeliangrong political maturity and goodwill, destroying unity, understanding, progress and prosperity.
Stating that since its inception the ZUF has been working tirelessly to uphold peace, unity and peaceful co-existence among all communities, the release said these “anti-social elements” are deliberately creating serious unrest in Zeliangrong areas and sabotaging the peace process for the “selfish and expansionist interests of NSCN-IM.”
The ZUF further made a serious allegation regarding extortion along the lifeline of Manipur. The Front claimed it has verified and confirmed that 6-7 illegal check posts have been forcibly imposed along National Highway 37 by NSCN-IM cadres and their proxies. These check posts are being used to extort money and goods from daily commuters, transporters and innocent civilians, causing much concern and inconvenience. The ZUF termed it a “calculated and intentional attempt to further spread panic, misery, and suffering added upon the public.”
Issuing a final ultimatum, the ZUF declared that it is compelled to flush out every anti-Zeliangrong element operating in Zeliangrong areas.
“Any individual, group, organization, or volunteer found involving with NSCN-IM and Kamson Group shall do so at their own peril. There will be no further warning intimation but to commit as planned,” the statement warned.
The Front appealed to the general public to refrain from causing provocative propaganda and misgivings on social media, while reaffirming its unwavering commitment to defend the life, property and dignity of the Zeliangrong people at all costs.
The ZUF also called upon all communities to stand together and cooperate in its fight for a shared, peaceful and dignified future.
