Kanggui: The Twilang Area Kuki CSO Coordinating Committee has strongly condemned the attack on N. Teikhang village along Imphal-Tamenglong Road under T. Waichong Sub-Division in Kangpokpi district, where three Kuki civilians including two women were killed and four others injured allegedly by suspected NSCN-IM and ZUF-K cadres on Sunday morning.
According to local sources, armed cadres opened indiscriminate fire on the village at around 9:30 am and torched residential houses, reducing the village to ashes and forcing residents to flee into nearby forests.
In its statement, the committee said deliberate killing of innocent civilians, particularly unarmed women, and burning of their homes constitute acts of extreme cowardice, savagery and moral bankruptcy. It said the brutality is an assault on human dignity, the rule of law and Christian values of peace, compassion and respect for human life. No political objective or territorial claim can justify murder of civilians.
The committee demanded that involvement of NSCN-IM and ZUF-K must be investigated immediately, independently and impartially. It said anti-India elements operating with impunity on Indian soil and killing Indian citizens is an insult to the nation and a blot on the record of security agencies. It demanded those responsible be identified, arrested and prosecuted without any political protection or institutional silence.

The committee said people of Twilang area have exercised patience and restraint despite repeated provocations as they hope peace and justice will prevail. However, this restraint must not be mistaken as fear or weakness. The Government must protect every citizen and act decisively before more innocent lives are lost. It appealed for immediate medical aid, relief materials and adequate security deployment along the IT Road corridor.
The committee extended condolences to bereaved families and solidarity with the injured and displaced residents of Teikhang. It said justice must be delivered swiftly, security must be guaranteed, and such atrocity must never be allowed to happen again.
