Songpi: The Kuki Youth Organization (KYO), General Headquarters, Lamka, has strongly condemned the continued killings of Kuki civilians, armed attacks and burning of homes in Chassad village in Kamjong district, stating that the repeated loss of innocent lives and displacement of villagers expose a disturbing failure of authorities to ensure safety and security of Kuki civilians.

In a press release issued on 19th October 2026, the organization expressed deep anguish over the recent escalation where at least two Kuki villagers were killed in separate ambushes and attacks, several others critically injured, and around 15 houses including Church properties were torched, forcing residents to flee into forests and security camps. KYO said the incidents, which occurred close to the Chassad Police Station and in the presence of deployed security forces, raise serious questions about protection of civilian life.

KYO has demanded an independent and impartial investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), subject to its statutory jurisdiction, into the killings, the alleged involvement of armed groups such as NSCN-IM, possible misconduct by security personnel, and the conduct of former Kamjong Superintendent of Police Tholu Rocky. The youth body stated that his substantial failure to ensure impartial civilian protection must be thoroughly examined and anyone found responsible must face appropriate legal action, asserting that transfer alone is not accountability.

The organization further held that the Government of Manipur must answer for the continuing insecurity in Chassad, ensure uninterrupted access to essential supplies, deploy impartial central security forces and provide adequate compensation to the affected families. KYO said civilian safety must never be compromised by alleged administrative negligence or ethnic favouritism, and that round-the-clock vigilance, protection of property and swift action against perpetrators must be ensured.

Pointing to a broader pattern of violence in the border areas of Kamjong and Ukhrul districts, KYO stated that the recurring violence and erosion of public confidence in the existing system further reinforces the Kuki people’s demand for Separate Administration as an essential political solution to safeguard their lives, land, identity and future. It said the demand has become more urgent as villagers continue to live under fear despite repeated appeals for protection.

Concluding its statement, issued by the Department of Information and Publicity, the Kuki Youth Organization declared: No more innocent blood. No selective justice. It reiterated its call for accountability, security and Separate Administration for the Kuki people, urging the Centre and the State to act without delay to prevent further loss of lives and to restore peace in the affected areas.
