Security Forces led by the Indian Army carried out a coordinated operation along National Highway 202 in Ukhrul district, targeting the re-emergence of hostile infrastructure in the Jalenbung hills and Thoyee Heights. The Joint Area Domination Patrols were launched to maintain stability in the region and prevent armed groups from re-establishing firing positions that could threaten the highway and nearby villages. The operation reflects ongoing efforts to keep key road links secure amid tensions in the hill areas.
Two joint columns were deployed for the sweep, with teams from the Indian Army, Central Armed Police Forces, and State Police operating on both sides of NH-202. The columns moved systematically through designated sectors, scanning ridgelines and vantage points previously used by hostile elements. The focus was on locations where bunkers had been dismantled in earlier actions but were later found repaired or rebuilt. Commanders said the intent was to deny any attempt to revive old positions before they could be used.
In the Jalenbung Hills, troops identified five bunkers that had been re-established after earlier demolition. Each structure was checked and then destroyed to prevent reuse. The patrol noted that the bunkers were positioned to overlook stretches of the highway, indicating an effort to re-create interdicting fire points. The coordinated sweep ensured no structures were left intact once located, and the area was declared clear before the column moved to the next grid.
A simultaneous sweep in Thoyee Heights and along the Mahadev Hills located another set of five repaired bunkers. These had also been dismantled in previous operations but were found reconstructed with fresh fortifications. Security Forces destroyed all five, bringing the total number of bunkers eliminated in the day’s joint action to ten. No contact with hostile cadres was reported during the operation, and no casualties were sustained by the forces.
The operation highlights the continued resolve of the Security Forces to prevent the re-establishment of hostile firing positions in Ukhrul district. Officials said sustained and coordinated patrols will continue along NH-202 and adjoining heights to ensure peace and stability. By denying terrain advantage to armed groups, the forces aim to keep the corridor open and protect civilian movement through the area.
