KSO Churachandpur Condemns Storming of PC Nursing Home by Central Forces, Alleges Firing Inside Hospital and Bid to Abduct Patient

Songpi: The Kuki Students’ Organisation [KSO], Churachandpur District has expressed deep anguish and bewilderment over an alleged high-handed action by Central Security Forces inside a private healthcare centre at S. Canaan Veng, Tuibong, terming the incident a grave violation of humanitarian norms and medical sanctity.

In a formal press statement issued on August 15, 2026, bearing Reference No. 03/KSO-CCP/PR/2025-23, from its Administrative Office at KIC Complex, Tuibong, the apex student body said it is bewildered and anguished by the act of the Central Security Forces at PC Nursing Home, a well-known healthcare centre located at S. Canaan Veng, Tuibong in Songpi District.

According to the KSO Churachandpur, a contingent of Central Security Forces stormed the hospital premises without prior intimation at a time when many critical patients were under intensive treatment and observation. The forces, the organisation alleged, attempted to forcibly abduct one patient who was undergoing treatment inside the nursing home. The identity of the patient and the specific reason for the attempted abduction were not disclosed in the statement.

The attempt was immediately met with strong resistance from bystanders, patient attendants and hospital staff present at the scene. On humanitarian grounds, they obstructed the security forces, pleading that a patient under critical care cannot be removed in such a manner and that the action was endangering the lives of other patients admitted in the facility. The KSO appreciated the courage of the civilians who stood up to protect the patient and uphold medical ethics.

In what the organisation described as a shocking escalation, after being obstructed by unarmed civilians, the security forces allegedly resorted to firing a few rounds of live ammunition inside the hospital building itself. The sound of gunfire inside a closed medical facility where critically ill patients were lying on beds created a scene of utter chaos, fear and panic, with patients screaming and attendants scrambling for safety, the statement said. Such an act inside a hospital is not only unprofessional but also a violation of established humanitarian norms, the KSO noted.

This very act perpetrated by the Security Forces put many critical patients and their attendants in the hospital under severe trauma, causing mental and physical health deterioration, the organisation stated. It pointed out that patients already battling life-threatening conditions suffered a setback due to sudden shock and stress, while their families were left deeply traumatised. Hospitals, even in conflict situations, are considered protected safe zones and must never be turned into sites of armed operation or intimidation.

Strongly condemning the incident, the KSO Churachandpur said it condemns the act of the Security Forces in the strongest terms and demanded an immediate and transparent clarification from the concerned authorities as to why such an incident occurred at a hospital housing a lot of critically ill patients. The student body questioned what operational protocol permits armed forces to barge into a civilian healthcare centre, attempt to forcibly take away a patient under treatment, and open fire when confronted by civilians.

The organisation emphasised that if the forces had a legitimate reason to question or detain an individual, the due process of law should have been followed in coordination with hospital authorities and the civil administration, rather than resorting to force inside a life-saving institution.

Furthermore, the organisation made a fervent and principled appeal to one and all, including all armed formations, both state and central forces as well as non-state actors, to respect, regard and maintain the sanctity of life-saving clinics and hospitals. It emphasised that healthcare centres must be kept completely free from any form of violence, intimidation, armed operation or political interference as they serve humanity irrespective of community or affiliation.

Issuing a stern warning, the KSO declared that ignoring its appeal will be met with a series of agitations. The organisation, which functions under the motto “Learn, Unite & Serve” and represents Kuki students across the district, said it will not remain a mute spectator if the sanctity of medical institutions continues to be violated.

The alleged incident has sparked widespread concern and outrage among the local populace in S. Canaan Veng, Tuibong in Songpi District, with residents and civil society organisations questioning the safety and security of patients in hospitals amid the prevailing volatile situation. Locals have demanded an independent inquiry into the incident and appropriate action against those responsible for endangering civilian lives inside a hospital.
