Kuki CSO Working Committee, Ukhrul Calls Off Total Shutdown After Talks With Authorities

Ukhrul: The Kuki CSO Working Committee, Ukhrul (WCKCSOs-Ukhrul) has announced that the total shutdown called by the committee has been called off today after detailed discussions with concerned agencies and authorities. The announcement was made through an official statement issued by the Department of Information & Media on Tuesday.

According to the statement bearing No. WC/PR87/14/26 dated 14/10/2026, the decision to withdraw the shutdown came after negotiations and a mutual understanding was reached with the authorities. The shutdown was initially called in connection with serious incidents reported in the area.

The committee said the talks focused on three key issues — the killing of two persons in Chahsad, the burial of the two deceased persons, and the firing incident at Kongjang under Chepu Yaolen. Authorities reportedly assured the committee of appropriate action and resolution through dialogue, leading to the decision to end the agitation.

In light of the understanding reached through negotiations, the Working Committee has decided to call off the total shutdown with immediate effect. The committee has appealed to the public to remain calm and maintain peace as efforts continue to resolve the issues.

The public has been requested to cooperate with the concerned authorities as efforts continue to resolve the matter through dialogue. The committee also expressed appreciation for everyone’s understanding and cooperation during the shutdown period.
