Leimakhong; The Kuki Youth Organization (KYO), Leimakhong Block on Monday issued a press release rejecting what it termed as baseless allegations made by the Konsakhul Village Authority in connection with a recent house fire at Leimakhong Chingmang.

In the release issued on 6th October 2026, Ref. No. KYO/LKB/PR/03/2026, the organization stated that attempts to implicate Kuki organizations in the incident were false and misleading. The KYO said the fire was the result of an electrical short circuit and that no Kuki organization or civilian was involved.

The organization specifically named KNF(P) and KRA, stating that neither of these groups nor any Kuki civilian had any role in the incident. It further pointed out that the location where the fire occurred is surrounded by the Indian Army and Central security forces, and questioned the basis of the allegations leveled against the community without evidence.

The press release also raised the issue of the killing of one Hemjang Haokip. The KYO alleged that Haokip was killed by cadres of NSCN-IM, which it described as a Naga group. The organization invoked the incident to question the calls for justice made by the other side, stating that the community had already suffered loss of life.

In a strongly worded section, the KYO accused the Konsakhul Village Authority of lacking respect for women, children, senior citizens and civilians. The organization questioned the moral standing of those demanding justice while allegedly being involved in brutal actions against civilians.

The KYO further stated that the house fire was not caused by any act of the Kuki community and made a reference to divine retribution, stating that the community should not be blamed for an incident that it attributed to inhumane acts by others.

Calling for intervention from the authorities, the KYO Leimakhong Block urged the Government of India and the Government of Manipur to establish an impartial investigation into the killing of Hemjang Haokip. It said justice should be delivered without discrimination.
