Stop Killing Kuki Women, Give Separate Administration: KYO Women’s Council Condemns Continued Violence

Songpi: The Kuki Youth Organization (KYO), Women’s Council has issued a strong press statement condemning the continued killing of Kuki women and innocent civilians in the ongoing Manipur crisis.

In its release dated 16th October 2026, the council questioned how many more Kuki women must die, how many more families must weep and how much more blood must be shed before the suffering of the community is taken seriously. It said behind every murdered woman is a family destroyed by grief, children deprived of their mother’s love and a community forced to live with fear and uncertainty.

The Women’s Council stated that Kuki women are not statistics to be forgotten after a news headline fades. They are mothers, sisters and daughters, the heart of the people. Their lives matter, their dignity matters and their right to live without fear must never be denied. The Kuki people have endured unbearable suffering, displacement, insecurity and repeated loss of innocent lives since May 2023.

The council said it refuses to accept a future in which Kuki women continue to die while the people are left to mourn and demand justice. It demanded immediate protection for Kuki civilians, impartial investigations and accountability for every perpetrator. It urged the Government of India to stop relying on empty assurances and take decisive action to address the prolonged crisis.

The KYO Women’s Council said the continued bloodshed reinforces its conviction that the Kuki people need a Separate Administration to secure their safety, protect their identity and build a future free from persistent fear and insecurity. It clarified that the demand is not a call for hatred but a call for a lasting political solution that safeguards people’s lives, dignity and future.

Concluding the statement, the council asserted that it will not normalise the killing of women, will not allow the suffering to be forgotten and will not abandon the demand for justice and Separate Administration. It raised slogans – Stop the killings, Justice for our women, Security for our people and Separate Administration for the Kuki people.
